Better education with Satino: Scientific facts regarding the drying of hands

What does matter when it comes to effective hygiene? Facts that can be scientifically proven. With its first position paper on the subject of hand drying, Satino is now setting a clear signal in the industry and for its customers.

In recent years, hand hygiene has been more relevant than ever before. However, even with this everyday topic, there has always existed a high demand for information. Because hand hygiene does not only include proper hand washing, but also hand drying. The reason: Damp hands can promote the transmission and growth of germs and lead to skin diseases. Therefore, the type and manner of drying one’s hands plays an important role for the effectiveness of hand hygiene.

Education on relevant hygiene topics

In its first position paper, Satino is therefore focusing on “Hand drying in public washrooms”. The authors – Dr. Stephan Poppe, microbiologist and Head of Disinfection at WEPA, and Prof. Dr. Reinier Mutters, former Head of Hospital Hygiene at the Institute for Medical Microbiology and Hospital Hygiene, University of Marburg – summarise the current state of science in a clear and concise manner. Spoiler alert: Paper towels are way ahead when it comes to hygiene – but it’s well worth to take a look at the position paper to find out why that is the case.

“Hand drying in public washrooms” kicks off a loose series of scientific publications from Satino. It is available in English and German, can be downloaded from the media library of the Satino website, or ordered as a printout from your sales partner.
