Ethanol, also known as ethyl alcohol, is a highly effective disinfectant. At Satino, however, it not only protects people, but also preserves the environment. The ethanol in Satino sanitiser liquids and sanitiser gels comes from renewable raw materials. Its high quality becomes apparent way before use – it has none of the unpleasant inherent odour of lower qualities.

Ethanol is not a new invention, but a pioneer of modern hand disinfection: it has been used since the end of the 19th century. The World Health Organization (WHO) lists ethanol as an “essential medicine” (WHO Model List of Essential Medicines); in some areas, it is more effective than the alcohols 2-propanol and 1-propanol, which are also used for disinfection.
